Thackray UK Limited was appointed as the main contractor by Bidwells following a competitive tender process, and to carry out extensive refurbishment works to St Giles Court, a commercial property building in central Cambridge owned by Clare College.
The scope of works included scaffolding, internal and external decorations, electric supplies, power networks, new lighting, timber repairs, air conditioning, toilets and showers refurbishment and specialist high-level cleaning.
During the St Giles court project, Thackray’s was then selected by NIRAS Consulting (a leading international marine environmental consultancy) to help them move from their existing space into a newly refurbished office.
From a bare shell, the Thackray’s team worked closely with NIRAS by project managing their refurbishment works plus move management which consisted of the following elements:
• Re-wiring the entire space
• New data cabinet
• Vinyl flooring and new carpet throughout
• Air conditioning
• Partitioning for a new meeting room which was sound deafened to ensure complete privacy
• Brand new kitchen
• Wall tiling and decorations
Upon completing the works following the one-month deadline, Practice Manager, Sally Coles, said: “The level of service provided by Thackray’s exceeded our expectations. The on-site staff were extremely helpful and communicative throughout the refurbishment. The office refurbishment and move went smoothly, especially considering the short time scale.”
